The White Dove of the Desert

The first time we visited Arizona we saw a sign for St. Xavier del Bac. We could not resist making the little sidetrip- and we were glad that we did.

We did not expect the majesty of the church. It is truly awesome when you get a glimpse of it. "The white dove of the desert" as some people call it, rises up from the tan desert surrounding it. It looks striking in its bright white color against that beautiful Arizona sky.

Catholic Services are still held at the church.
Adjoining the church is a museum and a gift shop.
