-Niagara Falls-

Niagara Falls is Nature at its most awesome!

One half million gallons of water
explode over the edges of the falls every second.

The Falls are part American- part Canadian.
They are located right on the border
some twenty miles north of Buffalo on I-190.

Tourists try to get as close
to the gushing curtain of water as they dare
by means of the observation tower or by boat.

We took a ride on the "Maid of the Mist".
We were lucky to be the first ones in line
so we were able to stand all the way at the front of the boat.

As we neared the falls the captain demonstrated
just how strong the current of the water is.
The engines were at full power to go forward,
but the force of the water was pushing us backwards.

It was a great boat ride-
and a nice way to cool off on a hot summer day
but a little too wet to take pictures.
We were thankful for the yellow raincoats
that had been given to us to put on.
